Michael brings an illustrious twenty plus years luxury hospitality experience to the Kempinski Hotel Changsha, where he will oversee the 408-room luxury hotel.

 

His hospitality career began with L’Abordage, St. Sulpice, Switzerland and eventually landed Michael at the helm of his most recent post, as Hotel Manager for NUO Hotel Beijing (Managed by Kempinski) during the past two years – one of the most luxurious hotels in China’s capital. During his tenure, the hotel exceeded all financial and guest satisfaction goals, earning numerous accolades along the way, including TripAdvisor Top 25 Luxury Hotels in China 2019. Previously, Michael spent three years serving as Director of Food & Beverage at the Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake, overseeing all F&B and culinary operations, including the Jin Sha Chinese restaurant, which is one of the most prestigious dining establishments in China. Prior to arriving in Hangzhou, Michael worked at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore as Director of Food & Beverage. He has been instrumental in leading his team to reach outstanding performance levels with a succession of fantastic results. 

 

During his 20-year career in the hospitality industry, Michael gained extensive international experience through leadership positions at properties in Denmark, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia and China. He brings a deep knowledge and vision of quality and excellence that lends itself to creating exclusive experiences that complement Changsha’s luxury portfolio as Hunan’s only Kempinski hotel.

 

Michael attended the Swiss Hotel Association Hotel Management School Les Roches, where he earned his professional diploma and degree. Michael is fluent in Danish and English, as well as being proficient in Chinese. He is also an avid photographer, a wine enthusiast and enjoys a round of golf.
